Whether you’re planting your first rose or adding to your collection, follow these simple steps for healthy plants and nonstop color.

Sun = More Flowers

  • 6–8 hours of full sun daily
  • Plant in a spot with good airflow

Water Deeply

  • Water at the base (not the leaves)
  •  Morning is best
  • If the soil is dry 2–3” down, it’s time to water

Feed for Bigger Blooms

  • Use a rose or flower fertilizer
  • Feed regularly during growing season
  •  Follow label directions

Prune for Performance

  • To deadhead a rose, remove the faded bloom by cutting the stem back to the first or second set of five leaves.
  • Remove dead or weak stems
  • Trim crossing branches
  • Shape in late winter or early spring

Keep Them Thriving

  • Add mulch to retain moisture
  •  Deadhead spent blooms for more flowers
  • Check leaves regularly
