Home and Garden Show Winners

We’re here at the 2008 Home and Garden Show, right in the middle of some really great looking gardens.  Now, each year, Cincinnati Magazine presents 3 Show Garden Awards.  Let’s take a look at this year’s winners!

For the “Best of Show”…it’s “Western Reprive” by Garden Works, Inc.  This is a natural rugged landscape reflecting landscapes of the west.  Step across the flowing creek on the stone walkway, and you’ll enter this structure, made from an old amish barn, reconstructed to create the garden’s pergola, which of course is surrounded by a wonderful collection of blooming and specimen plants, including my favorite, Harry Lauders Walking Stick.

For “Best Hardscape Element”…it’s the Tepe Environmental Services garden titled “Southern Inspiration”.  The winning hardscapes includes this wonderful stone patio and walk area, wrought iron fencing, as well as the matching brick / stucco walls and outdoor fireplace.

And for “Best Use of Color”…it’s the Natorp / 55KRC garden, titled “A Clockwork Orange”.  And I think looking at the orange garden basically says it all.  From the orange windows, orange centerpieces, orange tulips and orange clivia, it definitely says, “orange”.

And look at this…to top it all off, real oranges for the mulch.  Now, orange you glad you watched this gardening segment?
