Guano

Ask gardeners which natural plant food is usually the highest quality, and the top choice is guano.  What is guano you ask?  Well, let me explain…

Guano is a word used to describe the droppings of sea birds and bats.  And for hundreds of years, guano has been highly praised as “the treasure of soil enrichers”.  Now, they are different…Sea birds eat fish.  Some bats eat fruits…other bats feast on insects…so the nutrient value actually differs in each of the guanos.  Let me show you 4 types of guano being sold here at Worm’s Way.

Peruvian Seabird Guano – it’s a 10-10-2 organic fertilizer and really is an all purpose plant food…used indoors or out for houseplants, veggies, trees and shrubs.

Jamaican Bat Guano – a 1-10-.2 organic plant food, Jamaican is used to promote better blooming and ripening fruits.  Use it as a soil amendment or top dressing…or make a guano tea for a liquid feeding.

Indonesian Bat Guano - .5 – 10 -.2 …this one has the highest phosphorus rating of all the guanos, again great for roots and extra blooms.

Mexican Bat Guano – 10-2-1…the best guano source for nitrogen as well as trace elements…boosts leaf growth and plant vigor…and usually combined with the higher phosphorus guanos.  Again, these guanos can be used indoors or out, used to make guano tea for watering your plants, or used as soil amendments and top dressings.

And if you’re a guano gardener and your neighbors want to know how you do it, just tell, them…”hey man…guano happens”.
