Critter Repellers

Critters invading our gardens and landscapes have become a major nuisance.  It’s also become a major focus in garden stores today selling critter repellers!

Now there’s all kinds of critter repellers on the market today.  Look at all the different ones here at just one local garden store.

Molemax to repel moles…made from castor oil…and Mole Chaser with it’s thumping sounds.   Repels All…this formula lists just about every critter you could imagine (except squirrels) but including armadillos, just in case one wondered into your yard.    There’s Liquid fence for Cats and Dogs…and Shotgun for cats and dogs…and if you have a snake problem…you can try Snakestopper!  Deer and rabbit problems?  Liquid Fence and DeerScram are available, and to date, I think are the best 2 deer and rabbit repellents on the market.  You could even try dusting sulfur (it acts as a nose irritant) and we’ve found that Milorganite does a descent job repelling deer, and a really good job repelling raccoons and skunks when they like to dig in the turf!

But there are times when these repellents just don’t seem to work.  Let’s face it…Hungry critters will go through just about anything to eat.  But here’s one repellent that I have yet to find someone who has said it does not work!  It’s called the Scarecrow!

The Scarecrow works by battery, and has an electric eye inside that detects motion.  Attach the scarecrow to your garden hose, and when the eye detects a critter moving into the garden or patio area, it shoots the critter with a strong stream of water.  And it really does work scaring them away!

Put one on each corner of the garden and the Scarecrow has you covered.  Works great on critters, including deer, and as one scarecrow owner told me, works great keeping the neighborhood kids from running thru the yard at night-time!
