Siti's Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits

Siti is the Lebanese name for grandma. The best thing about these biscuits is they are easy to make and smell delicious coming out of the oven. Perfect for a fall day!

You'll need:
2 cups flour,
1 tablespoon baking powder,
1 teaspoon salt,
1/4 teaspoon baking soda,
1/4 cup Canola, 3/4 cup buttermilk,
1 stick butter, softened,
3/4 to 1 cup sugar,
2-3 teaspoons cinnamon.

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and soda and blend. Stir in oil, add buttermilk and stir just until blended. Knead on lightly floured surface just until smooth. Roll into a 15x8 rectangle. Preheat oven to 400 and spray a 9” round baking pan.  Spread butter over dough and combine sugar and cinnamon – sprinkle this over butter.  Roll up rectangle, jelly roll style, starting from one long side. Pinch seam to seal. Cut into 1-1/2” slices and arrange cut side up in pan. Bake until lightly browned, about 15-20 minutes. Serve hot.

Tips from Rita’s kitchen:  Before measuring flour, whisk it up. That way, you’ll get a more accurate measurement. Spoon flour lightly into cup, then level off with a knife.
