Winter Red Winterberry is a
multi-stemmed, erect, deciduous rounded holly shrub. It has
lustrous dark green foliage and abundant large red fruit that will
maintain its intense color throughout the winter. Winter Red
Winterberry will thrive and fruit in shade and is adaptable to
most soils. It is beautiful as a mass planting or border planting.
Birds love this shrub. A male holly (such as Ilex verticillata
'Southern Gentleman' is needed for pollination). The bright red
fruit is beautiful in holiday decorations. The fruit branches will
last indoors for months as long as they are not in water.
Winter Red Winterberry will grow 6-9 feet in
height with a spread of 8 feet. It has glimmering bronze foliage
in the fall.
