Taxus x media quality
characteristics include slow to medium growth rate, excellent
year-round color, resistance to insects and diseases, wide
variations in form, compact growth habit and winter hardiness.
Taxus has many landscape uses including hedges, groupings,
foundations, broad masses and as a specimen.
Taxus has dark green foliage with the exception of new growth
which is emerald green. They can be planted in spring or fall with
good results and are most effectively moved balled-and-burlapped.
Taxus does equally well in sun or shade, prefers fertile soil,
sufficient moisture, and requires good drainage. Most varieties
are naturally compact and symmetrical and require very little
corrective pruning.
