Bracken's Brown Beauty Magnolia

Magnolia grandiflora
'Bracken's Brown Beauty'

Magnolia grandiflora 'Bracken's Brown Beauty' also called Brown Beauty Southern Magnolia is considered one of the best magnolia selections and one of the most cold hardy. It is relatively compact and dense even in youth and forms multiple breaks from each shoot and therefore becomes a fuller specimen. The leaves, which are about 6" long, are a lustrous green on top and a rusty brown underneath with an undulating surface. The fragrant flowers have a 5 to 6" diameter. 'Bracken's Brown Beauty' will grown 30 to 50 feet high and 15 to 30 feet wide. This magnolia transplants better than many and it does not drop as many leaves. 'Bracken's Brown Beauty is a very attractive stately evergreen that is often used as a specimen planting.
