Blue Pacific Juniper

(Juniperus conferta 'Blue Pacific')

Juniperus conferta 'Blue Pacific' has superseded the species in many areas of the United States because of its more compact habit and superior foliage. It is slow growing with a low trailing habit, usually  grows less than 1' high and makes a better ground cover. The rich, ocean blue-green needles are shorter and more densely borne than those of the species, and they do nor discolor in cold weather to the degree of those of the species.

Blue Pacific Juniper has excellent landscape value as a low ground cover. It is good in mass, on banks, in planter boxes, around tall shrubs or trees or lovely draped over a wall. This juniper is tolerant of poor soils, even clay, as long as drainage is adequate. Blue Pacific Juniper prefers full sun, however it is more shade tolerant than other junipers. It can grow 1' high with a 6 to 9' spread.
