Forsythia is a fast growing, early bright yellow
spring flowering deciduous shrub with upright and arching branches.
Leaves appear after the Forsythia flowers and are a medium to dark green
in summer. During the fall the leaves are green or yellow-green and
sometimes have a tinge of purple and occasionally may turn a deep burgundy.
Forsythia may be used for shrub borders, group plantings or bank
plantings. They will grow in size from 8 to 10' high by 10 to 12'
wide. 'Lynwood Gold' is one of the best and most reliable of the
Forsythia family with flowering stems that appear as yellow wands.
The early spring color makes Forsythia a popular choice with homeowners.
However, early flowering also allows the Forsythia to be injured by late
freezes. |
