Hemerocallis 'Happy Returns' is more commonly known
as Happy Returns Daylily. This perennial has a beautiful lemon yellow
flower with a delicate appearance. The flowers open in the evening and
remain for twenty-four hours. Most daylilies produce flowers in
succession over a period of weeks. However, Happy Returns is known as a
reblooming daylily. Its main flush of blooms is followed by additional
spikes and blooms. The beautiful green foliage of arching, sword-shaped,
grassy leaves forms a neat, fountain like mound. The Happy Returns
Daylily will grow in height 18 to 22 inches with a 24 inch width. This
perennial will thrive in most soils but will do best in well-drained
soil. Although daylilies will tolerate some shade, the best blooms are
produced by daylilies planted in full sun. If the plant is no longer
blooming profusely, it needs to be divided. The Happy Returns Daylilies
can be used as edging plants, in mixed borders, as cut flowers or in
containers. The lovely lemon yellow Happy Returns flower blends easily
with most garden plants and combines beautifully with other perennials
such as Veronica 'Sunny Border Blue'. |
