Daffodils & Narcissus

 Narcissus x hybridus

Daffodils & Narcissus, which are part of the Amaryllis Family, are beautiful small to medium sized perennial Spring-flowering bulbs. The trumpet-shaped central flora tube of the Daffodil & Narcissus is surrounded by petals. The flowers come in shades of yellow, white, orange or peach or in a mixed bi-color combination. They have an upright clump growth habit and depending on the variety range from 6-18" tall by 4-12" wide. These flowers perform best in full sun in moist, rich, well-drained soil. However they can be grown in partial shade. Daffodil or Narcissus dry bulbs are available in late Summer and throughout Autumn.

The bulbs should be planted during the Fall or early Winter at a spacing and depth that is three times the height of the bulb. The blue-green blades of flattened, dense foliage emerge during late Winter or early Spring and is light freeze tolerant. The foliage will remain through June and should turn yellow and brown before it is removed. This will allow next year's flowering to be optimized.

The most dramatic display of Daffodils & Narcissus is achieved if identical colors are grouped together in mass plantings, clusters or beds.
