Arabis, more commonly known as Rock Cress, is a
perennial plant with abundant, fragrant flowers and attractive foliage.
'Spring Charm' is a 6 to 8 inche tall species with 1 foot wide
mounds of evergreen leaves topped in spring and early summer by clusters
of tiny rose-pink four-petaled flowers. Rock Cress prefers full
sun and average, well-drained soil. However, it will tolerate heat and
drought as well as poor, dry soil. Shear plants after they flower to
encourage new growth and to keep them neat looking. Rock Cress is
attractive cascading over stones or as edging near the front of a
garden. Sometimes it is used in small areas as ground cover. |
